The Social Service office hours:
Monday – Friday: 8:00am to 3:30pm
Appointments are recommended, but not required. Call 352-8596. Please note that caseworkers may not always be available during all office hours due to breaks, meetings or other events, however someone will always be there to answer questions and make appointments (except on holidays).
Our social service caseworkers are authorized to assist clients with a variety of needs. However, clients must have a plan or be willing to make a plan as to how they will overcome the circumstances that have caused them to need our assistance. No assistance is guaranteed.
During the Christmas season, we do offer special assistance for food and toys because of the great generosity of many individuals and groups.
Through a cooperative effort with Catholic Community Services we serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner 365 days a year at our site. The only requirement to get a meal is that you must be sober and “clean” (no drugs).
Our shelter operates 365 days a year. Shelter is available for single men and women who are able to care for themselves. We do not have the expertise or staffing to handle clients with extreme mental disorders or who require medical/nursing care.
First time guests of our shelter are required to meet with a caseworker the morning after their stay. Caseworkers discuss their situation and explain our standard program. If they wish to continue to staying they must follow the agreed upon plan. After 7 days they will meet with the caseworker to evaluate their adherance to the plan. That plan will usually require them to look for work and provide proof of that search in order to continue their stay. Those who are unable to work must find another source of income and our caseworkers assist them with this. Once our guests are receiving an income they are required to institute a savings plan that will help them save for relocation to permanent housing in the future..
During cold weather, the self-sufficiency plan requirement is waved.
We offer seasonal assistance at Thanksgiving, Christmas and during the summer for kids wanting to go to summer camp.
