Sunbeams

The Sunbeam program is a character building program sponsored by The Salvation Army. The primary objectives is to help every girl in her search for life's meaning and to lead her into a personal faith in Jesus Christ.  The program
is nondenominational and membership is open to every girl.

The Sunbeam program opens the door to adventure.  A Sunbeam finds many exciting new experiences that await them.  With each experience, they will discover things about themselves and the world God has created.
Girls meet together as a troop to do many things such as:  learning
new skills, hiking, singing, camping, swimming, making handicrafts,
meeting new friends, going on trips and serving the people in the
community.

Who can belong to the SUNBEAM Program?

Any girl regardless of race or creed can become a member of the Sunbeam program.  The Sunbeam program is for girls in grades one through five.  To become a Sunbeam a girl must:

  1. Be in grades one (1) through five(5).
  2. Attend four (4) consecutive meetings.

Becoming a SUNBEAM

You become a Sunbeam when you are officially enrolled during a special candelighting ceremony.  At this ceremony you may wear your uniform for the first time.

Sunbeams have a special sign that is a reminder of the fourfold Aim of the Sunbeam program.  This sign is made with the right hand.  The sign is given when repeating the Aim, during troop review/inspection and when greeting another Sunbeam.

When do the SUNBEAMS meet?

Sunbeams meet Fridays from 5:45 PM to 7:00 PM.  The Sunbeam Troop meetings are held at The Salvation Army, 1505 4th Ave E, Olympia, WA 98506, Phone 360.754.2441.
